Needs Statement

As the United States becomes a more racially and ethnically diverse nation, health care systems and providers need to respond to patients’ varied perspectives, values, and behaviors about health and well-being. Failure to understand and manage social and cultural differences may have significant health consequences for minority groups in particular.

Objectives

1. Define Good Medicine as a cultural concept.
2. Recognize how the healthcare provider becomes a part of the patient’s life experience.
3. Describe the varying roles of health care providers in different cultural contexts.

This knowledge-based activity has been assigned ACPE # 022-000-09-113-H04-P and will award 1.00 contact hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.

Statements of credit will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity.
