Needs Statement
There is a need to provide to preceptors for the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy information regarding the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards for Experiential Education (EE) and how these standards shaped the new Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) curriculum and how it ties into the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science’s Philosophy of Practice. There is also a need to train current preceptors on a new Pharmacy Education Management System (PEMS) which will be used for rotation scheduling and assessment management under the new EE curriculum.Target Audience
Pharmacists who serve as preceptors for Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences in Kentucky hospital pharmacies.Objectives
1. Review the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards regarding Experiential Education (EE);2. Discuss changes in the UK College of Pharmacy curriculum to meet ACPE standards;
3. Provide an overview of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE);
4. Demonstrate the Pharmacy Education Management System (PEMS).

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.This knowledge-based activity has been assigned ACPE # 022-000-10-048-H04-P and will award 1.00 contact hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.Statements of credit will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes completing the activity, its accompanying evaluation and/or posttest (score 70% or higher) and requesting credit online at the conclusion of the activity. The College complies with the Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education.
