Anemia is one of the most common findings in clinical medicine. It is a symptom of disease rather than a disease itself, and therefore the ability to make an accurate diagnosis of the reason for anemia is a critical element of patient evaluation. This activity will assist the participant in developing a logical approach to the diagnosis of anemia, and in distinguishing those anemia syndromes which can be managed in the primary care practice from those requiring specialist referral.
