Gwen Ratermann, BA

Gwen Ratermann leads and facilitates efforts to advance the profile and mission of HLM through the development of successful partnerships, programs, and initiatives. Before joining Health Literacy Missouri, she was the Associate Director of the Center for Health Policy at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she managed research and service projects focusing on health insurance access and affordability, racial and ethnic health disparities, childhood obesity and health literacy. In addition, she served as the principal investigator for the HLM resource center at University of Missouri. A writer with a diverse job history, Ratermann has worked as a speechwriter and media relations specialist for the Missouri House of Representatives, ultimately serving as press secretary for the Speaker of the House and Director of the House Communications office. She also has served as media relations manager for University of Missouri Health Care before moving into a role as government relations director. In that capacity, she lobbied successfully for increased funding for uncompensated care.
